Frosting is delicious, but it often has a lot of sugar.  If you’ve been here for a while, you know I’ve made homemade frosting quite a few times.  I’ve made Salted Chocolate Buttercream Frosting, Refined-Sugar Free Vanilla Buttercream, and now Cream Cheese Frosting.

This frosting is very simple; it’s quick and has only four ingredients.  We put it on any cakes (so good on Gluten-Free White Cake), cupcakes (Spice Cupcakes?  Yes, please!), carrot cake waffles, or even use it as a fruit dip!

Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup powdered sucanat (if you don’t have powdered, just run sucanat through a blender or food processor)

Directions:

Step 1: Add the butter and cream cheese to a medium bowl.

Step 2: Add the vanilla.

Step 3: Beat this mixture together briefly with a hand mixture.  This is easier if the butter and cream cheese are softened.

Step 4: Add the sucanat, then beat again.  That’s it!  Once it’s fully mixed, it’s done!

Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup powdered sucanat if you don't have powdered, just run sucanat through a blender or food processor

Instructions

  • Add the butter and cream cheese to a medium bowl.
  • Add the vanilla.
  • Beat this mixture together briefly with a hand mixture.  This is easier if the butter and cream cheese are softened.
  • Add the sucanat, then beat again.  That's it!  Once it's fully mixed, it's done!

What’s your favorite food to put frosting on?

  1. thinking about using coconut oil instead of butter as I am out of vanilla and that would add a nice, sweet, mild coconut flavor. any thoughts on this?
