DIY: Ginger Shots

Rustina April 7, 2023

Recipe by Kate Tietje, and Rustina is a contributing writer.

Kate’s teaching her kids how to do shots…ginger and lemon shots! 😂 It’s a great way to help support your body! If you deal with inflammation, digestion worries, or a sluggish immune system, you should try making these! They are easy to make, and aren’t those little Mason jars adorable?

She said the shots were kid-approved, “They had fun shaking them up…and they taste like spicy lemonade! But they are so good for them.”

Ginger has many benefits besides anti-inflammatory properties, digestive support, and immune support; it also may help lower cholesterol (1), improve blood sugar levels (2), and improve brain functionality (3)!

Ginger can be found in dried bulk, pills, powders, teas, extracts, and tinctures. Teas and soups are also options.

Besides doing ginger shots, we also recommend Earthley’s Elderberry Elixir (Original Formula) and Ginger Root Capsules.

Check out the recipes below, and here’s a video showing how to make it fresh!

Kate’s Ginger Shot Recipes

Recipe #1 (Spicy):

Recipe #2 (Not As Spicy):

The second is much less spicy, so it is great for kids!

Directions:

Step 1: If using fresh, juice the ginger and lemon and mix. If using bottled, just mix it.

Step 2: Enjoy your shot of inflammation-busting gut and immunity-supporting goodness!

That’s all there is to it!

Notes: If you juice it fresh, this lasts a few days in the refrigerator. If using an organic pasteurized juice, it will last for about a month in the fridge. You can mix some up ahead of time and grab a shot when you need it!

Have you ever made homemade ginger shots, if so, how did you like it?

Rustina started studying herbs and natural living after allopathic medicine was unable to provide answers or support when she needed it. She is continually working on learning more and improving her and her family’s health, diving in and researching any topic. A love of learning led her to homeschool and begin working from home. She now spends each day with her husband and four sons as they travel on their home education journey together. She is thankful for the opportunity to write about these interests and passions for Earthley Wellness and Modern Alternative Mama.
