Interested in ordering Natural Remedies for Kids but not sure yet?  Check out these FAQs!

Q: Is this different than your other books, like Healing with God’s Earthly Gifts?

A: Yes!  My other books are shorter and have somewhat less information in general.  A Practical Guide to Children’s Health is mostly focused on exploring common issues and sharing research — not remedies.  And Healing with God’s Earthly Gifts is more aimed at adults than children.  Natural Remedies for Kids is all about kids, and it goes into a lot of detail about what natural remedies are, how to prepare them, which herbs to start with, and more.  It has a lot more remedy ideas, plus recipes for remedies.  If you have a family and want one guide, this is the one you should buy.

Q: Where can I buy it?

A: Right now, you can pre-order the book online.  Once it’s officially released, you can buy it wherever books are sold.  Here’s where to find it online.

Q: How much does this book cost?

A: The list price is $22.99, which is great for a 176-page, full-color book with dozens of remedies.  If you pre-order before the book is released, you’ll get about 25% off (it’s around $17.49, depending on where you buy).  If you want the book — and I know you’ll love it — then you should definitely order now and get the best price.

Q: Is this book medical advice?

A: No, it isn’t.  It’s not a substitute for your doctor’s examination and diagnosis, and shouldn’t be used in an emergency.  It’s meant to be used for simple things, like runny noses, bumps and scrapes, stuff like that.  It doesn’t address serious or chronic issues.  However, the book has been reviewed by Dr. Bob Zajac, a board-certified pediatrician, so the information in the book is medically accurate.  You’ll also find his wisdom in boxes throughout the book, labeled “Dr. Bob Says.”

Q: When will this book be officially released?

A: The book is scheduled to come out in August.  As soon as I have an official date, I’ll let you know!

Q: Where can I buy the supplies listed in this book so I can make the remedies?

A: Local health food stores may have these items available.  Online, Bulk Herb Store is a great place to buy.  There is also Mountain Rose Herbs, Starwest Botanicals, Frontier, and more.

Q: I love the book and can’t wait to get started, but I’m still intimidated.  What should I do?

A: I find new skills often seem intimidating the first time.  I felt that way when I prepared my first few herbal remedies, when I started canning, and more.  I recommend choosing just one remedy to start with.  Read over the directions several times until it makes sense to you.  Have a friend over to do it with you, if this would make you feel better.  Then, dive in and just do it.  Once you have done it, it will probably be a lot easier than you thought, and you will not feel intimidated anymore.  And, feel free to ask me if you still have questions!  You can reach me via email, kate@mam.parakino.com.

Q: What made you write this book?  Where did you come up with the remedies/recipes?

A: I have been fascinated by herbal remedies for years, and found it initially intimidating.  But once I dove in, I found how well the remedies worked, and became even more passionate.  I’m sharing what I’ve learned not as a professional, but as a mom who’s been-there-done-that.  It’s the way these remedies were traditionally passed down — taught by mothers, grandmothers, sisters, neighbors, and friends.
