In order to maintain a generally positive and peaceful environment, we have a comment policy. For the most part, comments will be allowed and encouraged. We appreciate several different viewpoints and new information, always shared respectfully.
There are a few types of comments we don’t allow, however:
- Comments which use swear words or other rude language
- Comments which directly insult the blog owner or other commenters
- Comments which have a rude/derogatory/inflammatory tone
- Comments which include links back to personal stories intended to sway people to make medical decisions
A note on that last one: We host several different posts and series on controversial issues, like vaccines. Our goal is to strive for a science-based discussion and as such we do not allow personal stories from either side. That means please do not submit stories about your child who suffered from a vaccine-preventable disease as “evidence” that we should all vaccinate, and do not submit stories about your child who suffered a vaccine injury as “evidence” we should not vaccinate. We understand that these stories are very personal to you and regret any child or adult suffering for any reason, but we do not consider these evidence and do not want to scare parents either way into making such an important medical decision. The same goes for other controversial topics like home birth, cancer treatments, and so on. Links to scientific studies from either side are welcome; personal stories are not.
Thanks for understanding and keeping our environment a positive and helpful one!
