Simple French Toast

Ingredients

  • 4 - 6 slices sourdough bread
  • 2 eggs preferably from pastured chickens
  • 1/2 cup grass-fed heavy cream
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 - 3 tbsp. butter
  • Maple syrup for serving

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, beat the eggs, cream, vanilla, and cinnamon.
  • Dip the slices of bread into the egg mixture.  If desired, slice into "sticks" about 1 - 1.5" wide first.
  • Melt some butter in a large frying pan over medium heat.
  • Add the coated slices of bread to the frying pan and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 3 - 4 minutes per side.
  • Remove from the pan and serve with a small amount of maple syrup for dipping, or drizzle a little syrup over the top.
