Chris Willaims T. Lady Anne Clifford commissioned his magnificent painting to commemorate her achievements and to honor her distinguished family, particularly her wives.

Jan van Belcamp probably did the large-scale work on three canvases. It features Anne three times.

Below is Anne aged 15, surrounded with objects that highlight her achievements and education. She fought for her inheritance right in a four-decade-long struggle. The right canvas celebrates her 56th birthday, when she finally received her long-awaited inheritance. Anne made a trip north to reclaim her estates after the Civil War ended.
