November 19, The Haitian Revolution started with a revolt of mixed race people in that colony lead by Vincent Oge. Incorporating the black slaves in the rebellion would have surely given them a much bigger army then the whites. This idea was actually then used by Dutty Boukman and it scared the whites and slave owners because the French were highly outnumbered by the slaves.
This next rebellion led to French Leader, Sonthonax, declaring freedom for all slaves after actually trying to defeat Dutty.
People were very confused and suspicious as to why he did this. Through victories, defeats and deaths and captures of wonderful leaders, such as Toussaint, the slaves became successful in the end and led Haiti to freedom. Nat Turner was very intelligent, deeply religious, and claimed he had visions; all of these built up his persona in the eyes of his people as a prophet.

Turner had gone from owner to owner as a slave and with each had visions leading up to his final vision- to revolt. He met up with fellow slaves in the forest to dine and discuss a plan. Together they rebelled by going from house to house killing all white people in sight.
But the rebellion was not quite organized; for when the group of slaves reached a small town, they were met by the Militia and defeated and executed. By the end of this bloody rebellion, Nat and the rebels had murdered fifty five white click, but blacks were killed by the militia and white mobs.
