Elizabethan clothing accessories for women usually consisted of gowns, underclothing, corsets, hats, ruffs, collars and shoes. Shakespeare's motto was: "The play's the thing! Sometimes they had to have a new costume made. What do you do with used Halloween costumes? The men's costume at the Elizabethan theatre was a shirt, stockings, britches, doublet which was a well fitted coat, sleeves separate, same stiff high collar and an overcoat.
