One of the companies that has formed out of the new incubator is Manta BioFuel founded by Ryan Powell. We recently sat down with Ryan to learn more about his company- an excerpt from our conversation is below. RP: Manta Biofuel is a Maryland-based startup company that produces renewable crude oil. RP: I think the biggest difference in what we are doing is more in the production method than in the actual fuel product. Other companies are working on very similar types of end-fuel products. What we are doing differently is focusing from the start on making our system as simple and manta biofuel economic as possible.

Unless a biofuel production system is profitable and simple enough to scale it will not make an impact in the fuels space. RP: The various institutions in Maryland have been extremely helpful in getting our company off of the ground.

RP: Our goal is to bring our process to the manta biofuel in Maryland. This will give farmers an additional option to generate revenue from their land and allow them to utilize parts of their land that are currently unproductive, such as areas with poor drainage.]
