This book was the perfect way to help me tell my kids that I have cancer. The language is such that even small children can understand and it covers all the questions and emotions that kids may have. The book explains cancer, radiation and chemo in such a simple way, which was a huge blessing. I stressed for weeks about how to tell them and I am so eternally grateful that I found this book. Stay strong, be brave. All warriors have scars. This book is amazing. The author, with compassion and love, explains in child friendly language what is cancer, what treatment options are available for cancer, how families may be feeling when a loved one has cancer and gives suggestions for what children can do to help a loved one who has cancer.
The Illustrations are beautiful as well as helpful. After reading this book to butterfly kisses and wishes on wings book 2 granddaughter to help her understand her aunts cancer, I purchase two more copies to give to the oncologist. I am hopeful that he will give them out to young parents who may be going through this journey and need help explaining it two children. I bought this book for a friend. She is going to have a mastectomy and has two little girls. I just wanted her to have something to help her explain to the girls what she has been going through and why.
