Jun 20, Carie rated it did not like it. This book was pretty terrible. For many reasons. For brevity's sake, I will limit my review to one main reason it was terrible: it was written by a 17 year old girl. The writing was ok I'm being generous, because she is after all The main problem is a 17 year old girl can't write realistic the kissing booth goodreads books realistically. The author writes about exactly the kind of world that a 17 year old THINKS they live in: no rules, no accountability, no consequences.
A world where you get want you want, just by This book was pretty terrible. A world where you get want you want, just kiss memes wanting it. The world according to Kissing Booth: warning, the examples are spoilers-ish: 1. Noah gets into fights all the time with no consequences. The utter insipidity, the fundamental mediocrity of this, coupled with the fact that not only Random bought it, but Netflix made a film of it, and that millions of teens fell for it, gives me a major fright. I mean. Thank God I regularly see several teenage readers here on GR who show a markedly higher level of erudition. View all 4 comments. Oh dear. This book- this book was a mess to the point where I would legitimately tear it apart had it not been on my kindle. When you hear a bookworm saying that they would tear apart a book, that's your cue to leave this forever in the dusty not picked up pile. Honestly, this whole book was just making out, screaming at each other, fighting, and characters acting like all around stereotypical abusive teenagers. To put it simply. So you're got a shaky foundation.
To add to read article, I found quite a f Oh dear. To add to that, I found quite a few typos and grammatical errors, and the author's writing style wasn't good to begin the kissing booth goodreads books. So you're adding some cheap bones to that house. Then, to top it all off, this book is problematic in terms of the main character keeps deciding to come back to an unreliable, abusive idiot. So obviously our house fell down.
To start this book off, we have Elle and Liam lay around not doing anything, cracking offensive jokes that rely on gender standards. So that was a fun twenty percent. Then, the kissing booth starts to come into play and they talk about it more and more and you have some more jokes about how boys can't wear dresses and girls can't like masculine things. So even more fun there. After a bunch of build up and a whole title based off of it, the kissing booth runs. Elle kisses Noah. The kissing booth runs for a full five pages. So that's where our making out, fighting, screaming, and abuse comes in. The rest of the book on is just that. Making out, fighting, screaming, and abuse. This is the most basic book that I have ever read with my own two eyes. How this got published? How it got adapted by Netflix? Unfortunately, my calculator does not compute these highly unrealistic, just simply stupid events. So we're just going to talk about why this is problematic. Basically, Noah's been going around telling boys that he'll hurt them if they ask Elle on a date.
Not to mention the fact that he's threatening assault continue reading people who did absolutely nothing. And that also plays a big theme throughout the book, but that's definitely not in the way it should. What should've happened is Elle should have stood up to Noah the kissing booth goodreads books told him to quit it, the fact that you can't command another person's life or dating life and it is not hot when learn more here does should've come into play, and many other discussions about it should've been held. Instead, Elle hasn't gone through a first kiss, first date, doesn't know how to act on dates, etc. I'm not sure this could've gotten any more the kissing booth goodreads books. The fact that Noah's been controlling her dating life and not letting her do her own thing also makes Noah super super hot.
There were also moments when Noah would force Elle into making out the kissing booth goodreads books doing whatever else when she had clearly said no. And that is a big no-no. N-O Noah. Can you say it with me? Since it's quite obviously this book has shown he has no idea what the meaning of that word is. I'm not even going to begin to dive into these shallow, self obsessed characters and this cringe-worthy writing, but to put it shortly, they were awful. Long story short, I hated this book and will never recommend it to anyone unless of course they're looking for a book to compete with their least favorite book. I do not recommend supporting and reading this book, but if you do decide to, I wish you luck. You will most definitely need it, fellow reading comrade. Signing off for now, thanks for reading! When nearly every minute of your life serves as a reminder that. Sometimes you need a little story like The Kissing Booth to help you feel like a kid again. Imagine my surprise when I discovered this was written by a kid. A 17 year old to be exact and she actually wrote it unlike just slapping her name on it like the trainwreck which was Girl Online. The story here is simple — girl and boy Elle and Lee have been best friends literally since their birth on the same day, in the same hospital. But when the school carnival rolls around and Elle and Lee find themselves running the most popular booth of all, things start going a little sideways. Which leads to Elle and Noah following the sage advice of one R. But seriously, they decide to the kissing booth goodreads books it on the down low. What can go wrong, right? If you grew up on John Hughes movies and are not a click at this page of Generation Butthurt, you might find this enjoyable as well.
Or you can make me morph into Mallory Archer and want to scream at you. Because you refuse to stop being obstinate long enough to attempt to understand the points Beth Reekles was trying to get across. I thought this was adorable. A cheesy and cliched rom-com drama is what this book has to offer, one time read, but I guess, the story could have been much better. And certainly, please not a movie on this book! It's a total pain. Synopsis: Meet Rochelle Evans: pretty, popular--and never been kissed. Elle, a high school junior, is back from the summer haze that turned her into a beautiful young woman.
And little did she knew that she caught the eye of every guy in her school. But unaware of that fact, she went on with her days with her next-door-neighbor-cum-best-friend, Lee. Lee is a childish kind of guy, who protected Elle like his own sister, practically, they acted like twin siblings as they were born on the same day and at the exact same time. So together, they plan a Kissing Booth for charity on their school's spring carnival. But to Elle's surprise, who has the kissing booth goodreads books been kissed before, found herself kissing the guy whom she had a crush on like forever, and that is, Lee's older brother, Noah. Now Elle and Lee made a bunch of childish friendship rules when they were how to make matte long spray, so dating or kissing or sleeping with Noah would be big no-no for Elle and Lee's friendship.
Anyhow, Noah and Elle begin to see each other secretly, but hell breaks loose, when Lee the kissing booth goodreads books out about their relationship. What will happen then? The author's writing style is okay, not that great. The plot lacks emotions, hence the readers will fail to connect with the characters and their emotions. The dialogues are crappy and way too cheesy, no one, especially, no teenager now talk or communicate in this fashion ever. For realistic dialogues, refer to the book, 13 Reasons Why.
As a whole, the story is "too been there, done that" kind, it's a very common story, when a girl is falling for her best friend's brother. But what the book lacked strongly was the true essence of friendship and its bond between Elle and Lee, instead of shedding too much light on the immature teenagish love here between Elle and Noah. The characters are not at all close to reality, they lack honesty in their demeanor. I felt like reading about a bunch of fashion models who happen to be fictional. So many elements and layers lacked in this book, especially the cast of parental characters, who are supposed to play a strong role in the life of these teenagers, and the transition from having a mother to having no mother in the life of Elle is pathetically depicted in the book. Like I said, the characters lacked to show any kind of emotion, only teenagers action high on their hormones.
But hey, if you want to re-live your teenage summer days blazing in the afterglow of the summer sun and a hot crush's kiss on your lips, then do grab a copy of this book now, as the author has vividly painted the summer days and how teenagers waste it high on alcohol, parties, kisses and one-night stands. PS: The movie is as pathetic as the book, so don't waste your time in watching it on Netflix. There are better shows and movies streaming currently on Netflix, avoid The Kissing Booth at any cost! Verdict: There are other better contemporary the kissing booth goodreads books available in the bookstore, that need your attention, but just not this one! Courtesy: Got this in a giveaway. I don't like the fact that Noah is described to love Violence and that Elle kind of likes it as he wouldn't be him without it. The writing is not the best I know it was by a young author at the time, but you can tell. No character was likeable. Don't do this, don't do that HOW dare you do this. On and on. Going to start this review by saying that I did not know of this book's existence until the film on Netflix came out and I became obsessed with the storyline. I have been a Wattpad member since and never heard of it, the kissing booth goodreads books I'm kinda upset I hadn't because it was actually a really interesting book.
Though, I enjoyed the film more I think because the storyline in the movie was more emotional considering it was VERY different than the book. Though, it did have its similarities. I found that a Going to start this review by saying that I did not know of this book's existence until the film on Netflix came out and I became obsessed with the storyline. I found that a few lines between the two were shared, which made me super excited. But, there were some scenes in the book I would've preferred that it had been in the film, but then there were scenes that were right off the page onto the screen. I think both materials are great on their own. The film has the same characters, same plot line, but a different line-up of events. The book, well, same thing, just some different events, again. I read this novel in one night, and I can honestly say I barely remember most of it once I finished it.
Like I remember a few scenes like party scenes and some scenes I remember that were in the movie too, but not much stuck from the book onto my mind. That's mainly why I scored this book a 3. It was decently written, especially for a seventeen year old; I write on Wattpad, myself, and I found it so cool to be reading someones work that derived from there. But, like I said, it wasn't as memorable as I wanted it to be. I think he was well written, but at the same time, I don't think so. He was the kissing booth goodreads books controlling, the kissing booth goodreads books, possessive, and aggressive. In a way, he reminded me of Christian Grey the way he acted towards Elle and others.
And yes, he did develop, it wasn't a notable development that awed me, though. He always seemed to be misunderstood from the beginning, and I think since that was his development him not being who everyone thinks, kinda I kind of grasped it from the start, so by the progression, it didn't surprise me when he did other stuff away from the 'cliche' which made it more cliche haha. But I did get annoyed at the fact he smoked like twice in the whole novel, being a bad boy, but like it never came up again.
Like usually when someone smokes, they can't like hold it in since it is an addiction neck sign as to how kisses write a y'know, that was just one inconsistency. I kind of liked Elle, like I felt a connection to her when she would speak, how she would act - I felt like I understood her reasoning for her actions and all. She the kissing booth goodreads books a good protagonist. But that's literally all I can say about her. She was cliche. Give it a bit of a twist? Guess not lol.
Lee was probably my favourite character of all. He was the most unproblematic, and understanding. He was her best friend and he was every best friend goal in one. He was sweet, helpful and always booos for her. Even when he found out she screwed his brother, he was mad for a chapter or two but he forgave her because he understood why she had kept it a secret. I didn't know whether I wanted to date him or be his best friend, but I think I ended up deciding the kissing booth goodreads books be his best friend because Noah is my bf and bc Noah was the main love interest, I was drawn to him first xD. The movie is very different, but I think I liked the execution of the movie better.
I would recommend this book, however, to someone who wants a bad boy romance. But, then again, I'd probably recommend the movie before the kiwsing, in this same case scenario. Let me go look in the mirror to make sure I how to make honey and sugar lip scrub pull all my hair out I'm exaggerating, of course. It wasn't really bad, I just didn't really like it. And here begins a the kissing booth goodreads books. Noah and Rochelle begin seeing each other in secret because she doesn't want to ruin her relationship with Lee. That's not even the main thing I had the issue with. Noah is so controlling!
