Reekles took the job seriously and it paid off big time! So starting from chapter ten is the go-to move with this book. Because of the fact that it was the publishing house, itself, that contacted HER, I thought that what I was going to be reading would be better than what it was. Master of the Universe did not impress me when it was fan fiction, and since James didn't make any changes when she actually published, I don't like the actual book either. There ARE some really great fanfic writers out there, who I think would be amazing if they wrote their own work. However, despite this being an original story, Reekles is NOT one of those online writers that actually has impressive potential unfortunately. Her story is way too cliched. In the case of The Kissing Booth, it's just one big cliche that repeats itself over and over again. This is the most basic book that I have ever read with my own two eyes. Crosxword this got published? How it got adapted by Netflix? Unfortunately, my calculator does not compute these highly unrealistic, just simply stupid events. So we're just going to talk about why this is problematic. Basically, Noah's been going around telling boys that he'll hurt them if they boith Elle on a date. Not to mention the fact that he's threatening assault on people who did absolutely nothing. And that also plays a big theme throughout the book, but that's definitely not in the way it should. What should've happened is Elle should have stood up to Noah and told th to quit it, the fact that you can't command another person's life or dating life and it is not hot when someone does should've come into play, and many other discussions about it should've been held.
Instead, Elle hasn't gone through a first kiss, first date, doesn't know how to act on dates, etc. I'm not sure this could've gotten any more shallow. The dialogues are crappy and way too cheesy, no one, especially, no teenager now talk or communicate in this fashion ever. For realistic dialogues, refer to the book, 13 Reasons Why. As a whole, the story is "too been there, done that" kind, it's a very common story, when a girl is falling for her best friend's brother.
But what the book lacked strongly was the true essence of friendship and gooxreads bond between Elle and Lee, instead of shedding too much light on the immature teenagish love story between Elle and Noah. The characters are not at all close to reality, they lack honesty in their anser. I felt like reading about a bunch of fashion models who happen to be fictional. I think both materials are great on their own. The film has the same characters, same plot line, but a different line-up of events. The book, well, same thing, just some different events, again. I read this novel in one night, and I can honestly say I barely remember most of it once I finished it. Like I remember a few scenes like party scenes and some scenes I remember that were in the movie too, but not much stuck from the book onto my mind.

However I do have to point out that I had issues with some things. Mostly on the characters friendship wise. So Lisi has two best girl friends, Mo and Bella. They both annoy me to no end at one point or another. After coming back from Paris after spring break, her entire appearance changes. But that does not necessary change her personal Kissing Booth is not something to be taken critically—more of a fun, little whimsical read. But that does not necessary change her personality. A quarter-way into the book, she completely ditches Lisi. Does it justify her decision wholly especially since she ends up leaving Lisi for the arch nemesis, the Fly girls aka the Dance Team? I am leaning towards ninety percent no. I guess this is all based on what you characterize as friendship, to what extreme or clarity should you expect from close friends.
The truth is not needed all the time, but a slight indication would be nice. Remember, this is all my opinion. Bella to me was more of user than an actual friend. She practically used Lisi to achieve her goals, never mind what Lisi thinks. She Lisi needs to grow a backbone and say no for once. It is fine to say no since it is your heinie that is on the line. Aside from that and the small insignificant details, Kissing Booth a mind-numbing book because it is such a simple book. The plot line was unique particularly the way the author connects all the pieces together.

Everything seems like it will go okay until Bella points out to Lisi that Mo is hanging out with the Fly Girls at lunch. Now, the group is down one person and seems like Lisi and Bella have lost a best friend and they have no idea what they did. Will Lisi be able to get a kiss from Brett? Will Lisi and Bella ever make up with Mo? I felt bad for Lisi and Bella. Lisi knew Mo forever, and Mo treated Lisi horribly. I really did like this book.
I loved that they were having a Kissing Booth for a carnival. When I was in high school, we had a carnival once, and I loved it. Granted it was a much smaller scale. The characters got on my nerves from being so clueless. I really hate the cover for some reason unknown.
