This film deserves an updated and remastered release!! Crank Top Contributor: Rock Music. One of the most kinetic and over the top action comedies out there. Sure, it is unbelievable much in the same way Renny Harlin's Die Hard 2 was, but this one has a lot going on and the good vibes are tremendous. It's a superior action pic in many ways if a tad dated here and there. I think Gina Davis did a mostly ballsy and supreme job in her dual role and Jackson does his thing perfectly throughout. Mostly, Jackson's lines are pure gold in this one and he rolls off the one liners with aplomb. Reminds me of The Last Boy Scout in many ways with its clever dialogue, though, some of it can get a little janky.

A few of the gunfights are a little underwhelming. Some of the bad guys are a little overdramatic and don't shoot as well as you might think. Maybe some of it is a little corny, though, it's always in good fun. This isn't a fully realistic action film and it never tries to be. The jokes are still lively if you are into some dirty humor and the action sequences are pretty amazing still today. The duo here have a lot of great synergy together, which in the end makes any flaws disappear. Overall, this is how action-comedies should be made. We rarely get anything even the long kiss goodnight geena davis resembling these fun pictures anymore. And if we do they have terrible scripting and much worse acting. I think people like this film because well it's a damn good experience. Get some popcorn out and enjoy the ride. The Bluray retains its grain structure and has a pretty decent definition. Totally recommended. Always liked this film which now emerges as Bournesque in that the main protagonist suffers from memory loss but begins to recall a previous life as a highly trained killer working for the government, and is pulled back into that world. Geena Davis plays the Bourne character. A little cameo from Brian Cox adds to the overall entertainment value. English subtitles, beautiful cinematography and directed by the superb Renny Harlin. Jackson is the having fun with his role, selflessly taking a back seat to Davis but his charisma shines through. Unfortunately, by placing a child in some of these sequences and having her actively threatened, it feels uncomfortable rather than fun. Tonally, it a little messy with hard hitting violence what feels like today song with goofy moments [especially lonv weird fantasy sequences].
The plot would later be revisited [and improved upon] in the Bourne series, Salt and [to an extent] Kill Bill but geenw is some dumb fun in the midst of the story problems.
