So obviously our house fell down. To start this book off, we have Elle and Liam lay around not doing anything, cracking offensive jokes that rely on gender standards. Basically, Noah's been going around telling boys that he'll hurt them if they ask Elle on a date. Not to mention the fact that he's threatening assault on people who did absolutely nothing. And that also plays a big theme throughout the book, but that's definitely not in the way it should. What should've happened is Elle should have stood up to Noah and told him to quit it, the fact that you can't command another person's life or dating life and it is not hot when someone does should've first kiss train wreck read online into play, and many other discussions about it should've been held. Instead, Elle hasn't gone through a first kiss, first date, doesn't know how to act on dates, etc. I'm not sure this could've gotten any more shallow. The characters are not at all close to reality, they lack honesty in their demeanor. I felt like reading about a bunch of fashion models who happen to be fictional. So many elements and layers lacked in this book, especially the cast of parental characters, who are supposed to play a strong role in the life of these teenagers, and the transition from having a mother to having no mother in the life of Elle is pathetically depicted in the book. Like I said, the characters lacked to show any kind of emotion, only teenagers action high on their hormones.
But hey, if you want to re-live your teenage summer days blazing in the afterglow of the summer sun and a hot crush's kiss on your lips, then do grab a copy of this book now, as the author has vividly painted the summer days and how teenagers waste it high on alcohol, parties, kisses and one-night stands. Going firts start this review by saying that I did not know of this book's existence until the film on Netflix came out and I became obsessed with the storyline. I have been a Wattpad member since and never heard of it, and I'm kinda upset I hadn't because it was actually a really interesting book. Though, I enjoyed the film more I think because the storyline in the firxt was more emotional considering it was VERY different than the book. Though, it did have its similarities. It was decently written, especially for a seventeen year old; I write on Wattpad, myself, and I found it so cool to kisss reading someones work that derived from there. But, like I said, it wasn't as memorable as I wanted it to be. I think he was well written, but at the same time, I don't think so. He was very controlling, protective, possessive, and aggressive. In a way, he reminded me of Christian Grey the way he acted towards Elle and others. More info yes, he did develop, it wasn't a notable development that awed me, though. Wrreck always seemed to be misunderstood from the beginning, and I think since that was his development him not being who everyone thinks, kinda I kind of grasped it from the start, so by the progression, it didn't surprise me when he did other stuff away from the 'cliche' which made it more cliche haha.
Read article I did get annoyed at the firrst he smoked like twice in the whole novel, being a bad boy, but like it never came up again. Like usually when someone smokes, they can't like hold it in since it is an addiction but y'know, that was just one inconsistency. I kind of liked Elle, like I felt a connection to her when she would speak, how she would act - I felt like I understood her reasoning for her actions and all. She was a good protagonist. But that's literally all I can say about her.
She was cliche. Give it a bit of a twist? Guess not lol. Lee was probably my favourite character of all. He was the most unproblematic, and understanding. He was her best friend and he was every best friend goal in one. He was sweet, helpful and always there for her. Even when he found out she screwed his brother, he was mad for a chapter or two but he forgave her because he understood why she had kept it a secret. I didn't know whether I wanted to date him or be his best friend, but I think I ended up deciding to be his best friend because Noah is my bf and bc Noah was the main love interest, I was drawn to him first xD. The movie is very different, knline I think I liked the execution of the movie better. I would recommend this book, however, to someone who wants a bad boy romance. The Kissing Booth was one of the first kiiss st I read this a few months ago, when it was already completed. The Kissing Booth was one of the first few stories I've read. It has got me through a lot of emotions that I fell in love with it. Elle and Noah Flynn 's story just draws you to it - trin read more, to want more, to fall in love, to get hurt, to ask for more, and leaves you wondering.
Even if I'm not a fan of such "endings" because I have a penchant for assurance, I don't care this time. I love it.
