Recipe Collection: Customizable Ranch Seasoning

Sarena-Rae Santos March 10, 2023

If you’re anything like me, you absolutely love ranch. Whether it’s ranch dressing or ranch seasoning, it will likely end up on my food.

But have you ever looked at the ingredients of the ranch seasonings you buy in the store?

Hidden Valley Original Ranch Seasoning contains maltodextrin, buttermilk, salt, monosodium glutamate, lactic acid, dried garlic, dried onion, spices, citric acid, less than 2% of: calcium stearate, artificial flavors, xanthan gum, carboxymethylcellulose, guar gum, and natural flavors (soy).

Sounds delightful if you’re not concerned about your health. MSG? Carboxymethylcellulose? No thank you.

As someone with a soy allergy, store-bought options are typically out of the question. That’s why I created the ultimate ranch seasoning that can be customized to your preference. Want spicy, no problem. Creamy, you got it. A little on the sweet side, why not? Make it exactly how you want it, and know exactly what’s going into it.

Customizable Ranch Seasoning

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp. parsley flakes
  • 1 tbsp. dried dill
  • 1 tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp. onion powder
  • 1 tsp. pink salt
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. paprika
  • 1/4-1/2 cup powdered milk or buttermilk powder (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp. coconut sugar or other powdered sweetener (optional)
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp. jalapeño powder, cayenne powder, or red pepper flakes/powder (optional)

Directions:

Step 1: Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl

Step 2: Transfer to an airtight jar (or just mix everything in the jar you wish to store this in). I like to reuse a glass spice jar to store my ranch seasoning. Another excellent option for larger batches is reusing Oui yogurt jars and getting bamboo jar lids.
