How One Mama Used EO’s for Hormonal Balance
In 2009, I found out I had large fibroid tumors in my uterus and on my ovaries. They had been there a long time, I looked like I was 8 months pregnant and had looked that way for about 10 years.
Because of the fibroids, my normally irregular menstrual cycle was becoming life-threatening. I became severely anemic because of the huge loss of blood. My hemoglobin was so low, a paper cut would have been life-threatening.
I am, and have been for a long time, a proponent of herbs and essential oils for healing. And, yes, I was very skeptical at first, as are most people. However, I have found them to be very strong, healing and beneficial for my body.
Hormonal issues have been around a long time, they are not fun! In fact, if we could just skip all of the mess, that would be great, don’t you think?
I am going to share with you my experience with using essential oils for hormonal imbalance and the issues that have been greatly diminished.
Using Essential Oils: Clary Sage and Geranium Rose
The essential oils of Clary Sage (Salvia Sclarea) and Geranium Rose (Pelargonium Graveolens) have proven to be most extraordinary for me. However, I did not realize until recently when I ran out and did not buy any more for 3 months how much my body needed these two oils.
Within three days of running out, I started feeling off. You know what I mean? Out of whack, out of balance, off-kilter. However, because my mind was already not functioning at full capacity because I was no longer applying them, it did not register to me at the time why I was feeling that way.
Ever since my hysterectomy, even from the first day, it felt like someone had done brain surgery on me and had disconnected some important neurons in my brain. It wasn’t me! I kept asking my husband what else they did besides the hysterectomy … and I would get that “she’s losing it!” look. You know the one!
So, after running out of those essential oils, which I had only been applying for two years, I was starting to feel that way again.
Even my boss told me that my co-workers was asking her what was wrong with me. She asked me, ‘Tammy, are you off your herbs again?’ I told her I was out of a few (again, I was not thinking of the essential oils) and I need to buy more and start taking again.
When I was ordering them, I remembered about being out of the essential oils. Then, it hit me! That’s when I started feeling off, distracted, quiet and unsocial! So, the next day, I bought more, even before the herbs arrived by mail.
Within three days, I was feeling better. So much better, everyone noticed!
Our feet have no hair, no sebaceous glands and five layers of skin. There are around 72,000 nerve endings in each foot. The pores are extremely absorbent and pull the essential oils into the bloodstream and the oils will go through the entire body in less than 20 minutes. That’s powerful! Every body system and function are represented in the feet and hands.
If you get a 1-ounce bottle of the Clary Sage and Geranium Rose, each one holds about 600 drops. That’s a lot!
Here’s how I apply on dry, clean feet:
- * Apply 3 drops of diluted Clary Sage and Geranium Rose to the side of the instep.
- * Massage in the bottom of the foot with hand for 30 seconds (go ahead and rub some on top of foot)
- * Put on sock or just sit with feet up for about 20 minutes
- * Repeat on other foot
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate these two oils. So, why have I chosen these particular oils?
The known benefits of clary sage are:
- Antidiabetic (and I am diabetic)
- Estrogen-like (raises estrogen and protesterone levels)
- Hormone imbalances
- Circulatory problems
- Menstrual discomfort/PMS
The known benefits of geranium rose are:
- Hemostatic (stops bleeding)
- Improves blood flow
- Liver and pancreas stimulant (extremely important)
- Dilates bile ducts for liver detoxification
- Helps cleanse oily skin
- Revitalizes skin cells
- Removing viral infections (like herpes and shingles)
- Menstrual problems/PMS
- Balances emotions
Recently, in the last two weeks, I have added Frankincense (Boswellia Carteri) essential oil to my morning routine. This particular essential oil is also antitumoral and antidepressant, but is also known for stimulating the limbic system of the brain and the hypothalmus, pineal and pituitary glands. The hypothalmus, in particular, is the master gland of the human body, producing many vital hormones for peak psychological and physiological health.
What Do Doctors Say About This?
My doctor, in particular, does know about some healing herbs and their importance in optimal health. And, even though he is a medical doctor, he also knows that the less man-made medicine the better. He has encouraged me to continue using the herbs and essential oils that have been doing well for me to maintain optimum health. In his words, it is much bbetter and healthier to be on less man-made medicine.
Is This Right for You?
In the beginning, when I started searching out natural alternatives to healing, I was extremely skeptical. Because, if they were so great, why did doctors prescribe medicines?
So, I decided to start trying them … while still very skeptical … I was completely shocked at the results! Right here, I want to say and encourage you to talk with your primary care physician about essential oils and herbs before starting.
I do not take just the Clary Sage and Geranium Rose essential oils. I also take, when needed: Peppermint (Menthol Piperita), Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus Globulus) German Chamomile (Matricaria Recutita), Ginger (Zingiber Officinale), Rose Absolute (Rosa Damascena) and several others depending on my symptoms. I have been very pleased over these last 25 years of using essential oils.
Update: I just recently received some different brand oils than what I have used all these years. Wow! What a huge difference! It is like the difference between a Camari and Lamborghini! Huge!
