When we’re out and about, I like to have wipes with me. You never know when hands or faces will get dirty, or someone’s going to need a diaper change or have an accident.
There are obviously two choices: cloth, or disposable. I have often brought cloth wipes, but that means I have to be near a sink or I have to carry a spray bottle with me. This is rather annoying, especially if we’re somewhere like a park, where sinks aren’t easily available — and I often forget my spray bottle. They leak sometimes and make a mess.
But, disposable wipes often have a lot of chemicals I’d prefer not to be on my baby’s skin (especially when they’re new). Even the “sensitive” ones. It’s a catch-22 — do you go with ‘easy’ or ‘safe?’
Well. Recently I was told I don’t have to choose anymore. And neither do you.

I got an email about this new brand, WaterWipes. It’s a disposable wipe that doesn’t contain any harsh chemicals. In fact, it’s 99.9% pure water on the wipes, plus 0.1% grapefruit seed extract. That’s it!
It’s really hard to find commercial products that don’t contain any junk. And I really hate using regular wipes on my new babies…I’ve watched them turn my baby’s skin red before. 🙁 But these, I’ll happily pack in my diaper bag, knowing that I have convenience and they won’t hurt baby. Totally chemical-free!
It’s basically just what I’ve been looking for.
You can see from the picture above that I paid $4 for a pack of wipes (there are 60 and if you’re only using them for travel like I do, that’s going to last a long time). I’m told that shortly, there’s going to be a special where Babies’R’Us is going to offer them 2 for $6 instead. That’s not a bad deal at all for something so safe!
The wipes are found at Babies’R’Us (and a few other places). And I’ll admit…I kind of like shopping there. In addition to these WaterWipes, they also have a number of natural brands that I like — meaning that they’re a good place to get what I need, locally and quickly.

Wow a commercial wipe that has only 2 ingredients?! Products are really cleaning up! The only concern I have is that grapefuit seed extract is contaminated with triclosan… which is why it works so well on microbials. “In all of the antimicrobial active grapefruit seed extracts, the preservative benzethonium chloride was detected by thin layer chromatography. I love these wipes! We’ve been using them for a year and they are also great for on the go messy hands and mouths!
