How To Use an Essential Oil Diffuser {VIDEO}

Today, I’m excited to share with you about our essential oil diffusers!

About a year ago, I decided I needed to have one.  Well — technically, a few years ago I decided I wanted one.  I spent many hours researching different models.  I kept coming up with models that were crazy expensive (around $200) or which had really poor reviews.  I kept getting frustrated and not buying anything.

know many of you have had the same experience.  You’ve heard about diffusers, you’re interested in getting one, but aren’t sure where to start, or how best to use them.

Well, after several months of research, I finally settled on a ZAQ Dew.  That, I purchased last January.  I liked having it so much, and used it so often, that I reached out to the company last fall about working with us.  They agreed, and sent me another of their models, the ZAQ Noor.

That’s the one I’m focusing on today, and the one that’s in the video.

Why a Diffuser?

Why would you want a diffuser?

Well.  A diffuser is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to use your essential oils, not to mention one of the safest.  Using oils topically is iffy, depending on the oil, the person, and the dilution.  Using them internally is even more controversial.  I’m not of the mindset that any use of essential oil is just fine, and that you should be regularly consuming them and using them neat (undiluted).  I think that this can lead to damage, especially in young children, if you don’t know what you’re doing.

But a diffuser is a way to use oils without them physically touching your body.  A diffuser mixes oils and water and creates steam, sending the oils out into the air in tiny doses.  You breathe them in, which can have an impact on your health!  This is especially helpful with colds, flu, etc. where breathing in the oils can help clear up congestion and promote better breathing.  But it also works to lift mood, erase depression, help calm down or focus, promote restful sleep, and more.

The tiny doses of oil that are used (3 – 5 drops for each cycle, which lasts 4 hours or so) make it both cost-effective and safer.  I usually use a germ-free blend, or a “happy” blend in my diffuser during the day, and a “relax” blend at night (I turn it on at bedtime).  We really love ours and use them almost daily!

  1. Yay! This is so timely, I just received the ZAQ Dew for Christmas! So far I have used it just once, with lemon essential oil, just to try it out. I have been meaning to research more oils / recipes and ideas, but now I don’t even have to!
